TRAVERSE SOLUTIONS & INSTRUMENTATION

About

TS&I was founded in 2016 by David Brent Noel and David Phillips to provide niche engineering resources for our customers.  We enjoy the projects that are too small or costly for larger design firms or projects that require a quick turn around.  The first project we completed was developing the photonic doppler velocimetry equipment you see in our product list for Los Alamos National Lab.  Our goal is to meet our customers expectations each and every time. We look forward to working with you in 2023!

TS&I Solutions & Products

Photonic Doppler Velocimetry (PDV) is a non-invasive, optical technique used to measure the velocity of a moving object or fluid. It is based on the Doppler effect, which is the change in frequency or wavelength of a wave in relation to an observer who is moving relative to the wave source. In PDV, light is used as the wave source, and the velocity of the moving object or fluid is determined by measuring the shift in the frequency or wavelength of the light as it is scattered or reflected by the moving object or fluid.

PDV has a number of advantages over other techniques for measuring velocity. It is able to measure velocities over a wide range, from very low to very high, and it is capable of measuring velocities in both transparent and opaque materials. PDV is also highly sensitive and can measure velocities with high accuracy, making it useful for a variety of applications, including flow visualization, particle sizing, and material characterization.
